This Saturday

Don't forget this Saturday is our Super Saturday Activity!

9am -1pm
At the Church

Come for a chance to socialize with each other and make some cute holiday crafts!

See post below for information on each craft. Also there will no longer be a fee for each craft!

If you have any girls size knee socks you can donate let Sister Cherry know! We will be using them to make 'baby legs' (leg warmers for babies) to donate to Oakland Children's Hospital.

Allyson Cherry modeling her 'baby legs' during her hospital stay in June.

See you Saturday!

November 6th

UPDATE: There will no longer be a cost per craft.

Super Saturday
9am-1pm
At the Church

Here is a preview of the crafts for our Nov 6th Super Saturday. If you haven't already signed up you can leave a comment listing which crafts you would like to make.

Cupcake Liner Pom Poms

We will be making Christmas themed Pom Pom (birthday Pom Poms pictured above). These are great decorations as centerpieces or hanging from the ceiling.

Ornament

Have fun making an icosahedron (geometry anyone?) to add to your tree or Holiday decorations around the house.

Advent Calendar
bring your own muffin tin (24 count)
This magnetic "Christmas Countdown" advent calendar is lots of fun. Behind each number you can hide a candy, small toy, scripture or activity for each day.
Muffin Tins can be purchased at Wal Mart (last I checked they were on sale for $4.00, they are regularly $6.00).

Magnets

Customizable magnets, you can bring your own images (both magazine pictures and actual photographs work) or use ones provided.
NOTE: if you are bringing your own the image cannot be larger than 1" diameter.

We will also be having a service station and delicious lunch.
Don't miss this chance to have fun with your sisters.

See you there!

  • My mom ran over me with a 3-wheeler;
  • I love flip flops and want to wear them 24-7-365;

Note from our Stake Relief Society President

Hello Everyone,

Well we have one more Sunday before the Women's Conference. I am looking forward to being with all of you. "Period Dress" is encouraged for our Women's Conference on Friday, April 30th at 6pm. I think it will make the evening more fun and relaxed. The sisters may have an article of clothing from an ancestor that they would like to wear or maybe they just liked the 1920's or 1830's or a pioneer costume that they don't get to wear often. I plan to wear something that will take me back in time. I hope you will too.

Love
Cindy Engstrom

Family Home Evenings for ALL of 2010

Do you have young children or know someone who does???

Thought I would pass on something great...
"I Know My Savior Lives." Family Home Evenings for all of 2010.
Every lesson is complete and ready to print off. It is great for the young children.
With this...you will have no excuse...they make it just sooo easy!

The only problem...I can't add a file to the blog...so email Marinda and I will forward you the file. redfordfam@gmail.com

This is an example layout of the lessons:

Lesson 1 God is the Father of my Spirit.
Song: "I am a child of God"
Prayer
Family Business
Scripture: Psalms 82:6
Lesson-Story/quote to read
Activity-you're "it" game or object lesson
Prayer
Snack

Then there is a coloring page, puzzle, etc to print off.

How easy is that! Email me if you want it! Marinda

looking for...

Sis. Sandi Watson would like to find out if anyone in the ward has the 7 volume set of the documentary history of the church. If they do, would they be willing to let her borrow them, perhaps one volume at a time?

Powdered Laundry Soap

As many of you have requested the "recipe" for the laundry soap I thought I would post it here.

Powdered Laundry Soap

1 cup grated Fels Naptha Soap
1/2 cup washing soda
1/2 cup 20 mule team borax

Mix and store in airtight container or bag. For light or small loads, use 1 tablespoon. For normal loads, use 2 tablespoons. For heavy loads, use 3 tablespoons.

To make a large batch - grate 6 bars of Fels Naptha Soap and then add 3 cups of Washing Soda and 3 cups of 20 Mule Team Borax. Mix well and store in covered container.

TIP: The above recipes will NOT make suds in your washer so don't be alarmed. Fels Naptha Soap is a pure soap and typically makes little or no suds in the water. This makes it perfect for use in the new HE washers as well as traditional washers. You will also notice the need to either reduce your laundry softener or in most cases you can even eliminate the use of softener completely.

Sharing...

In the spirit of this blog, we have a couple of things to share...
  • Anyone need boys and girls clothes sizes 5 thru 10? Colleen Posey 987-1096
  • Jessica Rasmussen (987-8761) is teaching piano lessons (I'm enjoying mine!)
  • Free to a good home: 3 tower racks for DVD and/or CD's
  • Thanks to Marinda for the connection for free audio books from Deseret - my niece really enjoy that over the holidays :-)
Happy New Year to all!
